The NTUA-AMDC/LTCP, within the Restart project (WP2), participated in the organization and supported a live musical event at the ancient theatre of Thoricos, one of the oldest theatres in Greece. It was a joint initiative by the Lavrion Technological Cultural Park (LTCP) and the Scientific Society of Lavreotiki, a consistent LTCP’s partner in many cultural events.
This theatre, a major cultural asset of the region, was constructed between 525–480 B.C. on the rocky slopes of the coastal Velatouri hill. It is directly adjacent to the excavated remains of the ancient city of Thoricus, approximately 1 km from the modern city centre of Lavrion. The theatre stands out from others of its kind due to its unique elongated structure with a linear central part and curved ends. Its orchestra is also distinctive, featuring a rectangular shape (approximately 16×30 m) with curved corners blending into the cavea. Recognized as the oldest surviving theatre in Greece, it has not undergone full restoration, rendering it inaccessible to the general public and rarely used for performances. This limits its reputation, despite its immense archaeological significance.
